This one time I went to this pizza joint in nyc and there were these stairs and i followed them down into this dark basement. There I found a bar, sweaty people, and a sound that brought back a sense of strong nostalgia.

aloke means invisible. this band is hardly that. this band is one of great sound and fury. think fugazi. think girls against boys. think jesus lizard. you with me? they blew me away to tell you the truth. they sounded better than a lot of the bands i'd seen on warped tour last summer. they sounded raw and real, Dark yet without the droning. i loved it! they have that dischord circa "red medicine" sound. the best part of this band is, and this is hardly to say that christian and paul don't hold their own, but Alex kicks ass on the drum set. when i go see a band that is the one aspect i follow throughout a whole set...it's how good that drummer is and whether or not he can bring the beat.

at one point of the show I looked over the crowd. this crowd wasn't the swaying back and forth easily nodding the head kinda crowd...this crowd was a Rock my ass off kinda crowd, They were pointing with fervor in confirmation that this trio does indeed rock. My suggestion to you is to experience it because you will not be pussified at this show, you will have a nice smile on your face when you leave and think to yourself, "Yeah, that's what it's all about."

Aloke consists of three stand-up Gentlemen - Christian Zucconi, 27 - Paul Decourcey, 26 - and Alex Charpentier, 25

Their functions are as follows - Christian plays guitar and sings really loud and then paul, well he plays bass and sings really loud as well complimenting Mr. Zucconi and last but so not least is Alex who beats the hell out of drums and does it oh so well, the boy has technique

Current Label: Pretty Activity

Current Release: One Day We Will Kill You

Currently Listening to: Neil Young, Jane's Addiction, Lee Perry, The evens, and of course Perry Como

...and now for the drill

1. How did you guys come about?
we all met and soon thereafter found out we could play music at the same time together

2. What influences your music?
Having tons of questions regarding yourself and the world around you and the world around you regarding yourself.

3. Dream Tour?
Sonic Youth, Bjork.

4. Your audience is pretty into your show...do you ever feel there are some places you play where that reaction is more of the sound of crickets and how do you get your fans amped?
We like to play places that give off a good vibe where our audience can let loose and have fun - no crickets, only catharsis.

5. What's your definition of punk?
An uncomfortable rebellion rallying against conformity.

6. What are you guys working on now?
New songs that we're recording down in New Orleans this March with Grant Curry producing...really excited to lay down some fresh tracks.

7. Where do you see yourself headed in the new year?
Still working hard, writing new songs, playing great shows - constantly towards the future.

8. A lot of bands don't like to be put into a category and don't like to be labeled. How do you describe yourself to others?
We don't like to label ourselves, so we'll quote Jeanne Fury of the Voice who writes "Aloke shovels out creepy, loud, grueling beauty".

9. What do you feel is the most challenging in trying to be a successful band?
Being honest and seeing through the bullshit. Perseverance and communication.

10. Favorite cereal?
The crunchy kind. <once again an imaginative answer!>
