He's got style, he's got grace, he's gives good paint. In between the cities of Tempe and Phoenix, Az, amid the native american and hispanic community of Guadalupe, in deep with the arid desert landscape, stems Such Styles. I would think this would be a highly unlikely place to find a graffiti writer let alone an avid urban art community.

What I love most about this writer is his use of old school technique mixed in with stencil-like iconographic art. He is insanely positive and a devout disciple of the word. He is a wall prophet in his own right and i find him humbling in a profound sort of way. He's super clean in his design and his love of trains and respect of old New York is ardent. I felt it necessary to do a feature on such a talented artist and you can bet you'll see his writings on new York's landscape.

It seems Graffiti is making a resurgence in a lot of ways in pop culture...Do you feel this is so?

Absolutely! A true force to be reckoned with!

How would you describe your style and technique?
Eye candy; I aim to create memorable movements in my compositions (keeping the viewers eyes very entertained through letter styles mixed with imagery)

Do feel Graffiti is more accepted in today's society as it's become a marketable artform or do you feel there is still some animosity towards the art?
In my personal dealings with diverse folks that I have made contact with, it is so surprising to see the great interest! In all my Graf-writing career I have never been as busy with the demand that is out there now. I hope this window remains open for us Graf heads to reap some rewards.

What do you want to convey with your work?
My desire is to generate great questions when one studies the creativity in each piece. Definitely something that will burn in their creative soul, leaving a memorable impression.

Which artists out there do you most admire and why?

My first thought that came to mind is the legendary New York subway painter, ‘Crash’ he is such an innovative professional individual that executes amazing canvas work with great skill. But the artist that holds my great admiration are my sons. Both are very creative in this field. ‘Champ’ my oldest son shows great power in going beyond levels, he is always pressing the envelope. And lil Christian, truly brings great light to each crayon colored drawing that he shares. this one always keeps me smiling.

With the whole east coast west coast rivalry in hip hop, is it the same with Graffiti?
I haven’t noticed it – All the contacts I have made have all been beyond positive. My closest friend (Killa KA is a New Yorker) I have had the great honor of meeting some of the most professional positive New York subway pioneers that have truly been beyond generous to me.

Where was the most exotic place you've tagged?
Does Guadalupe count?
A very humble town where I have dropped some of my most remembered epic productions at.-- Great respects

Where would you most want to paint and why?

New York! Because that is my upbringing into this wonderful thing I call Graffiti.

What is your favorite piece?
The images on the subway cars in Martha Cooper's book Subway Art – Pure movement mixed with raw untainted purity

Favorite piece of architecture?

Tel Dan, in Israel; A 4000 yr old arched structure now protected under a modern shelter.
- I am so intrigued on ancient Biblical earthen architecture.
