What girl doesn't love her baubles? Who doesn't want to find individual pieces to complement their looks? Does a girl not want to shine in the spotlight with originality rather than blend into the wall with mediocrity?

Angelique, owner of the fashionable line, Sugar Mafia™, is here for just that. Her pieces are glammed up rocker chick fabulousness. It's very difficult to find the old and the dull and make it the sparkly and the hot. If you want to be original and stand out then you best wear one of Angelique's pieces. She creates her visions with passion and love and only hopes to create that same feeling in her clientele. What I love about her most is that she creates pieces for her and only wants to see her dreams realized. Her jewelry is...well the best way to describe it would be a pink icing Magnolia cupcake...it's just sugary sweet!
What is Angelique Boutique and what's your MO? Do you do custom pieces?
Angelique Boutique is my on-line website "boutique" in which I showcase and sell my collection Sugar Mafia™. My dream someday is to have a physical boutique that would be awesomely decorated with chandeliers, pink walls, black accents and a leopard rug. I would actually bring in all the things I love and other designer collections to offer as well. Ahhh a girl can dream can't she? I have done custom pieces but I really do not do that as much now except for boutiques and special circumstances. I put most of my time into creating collections that I think would appeal to my customers. I am passionate about what my vision is so when I offer a line that is it. It is what speaks strongly about who I am and what Sugar Mafia™ is all about. I do not mind changing a chain to silver from gold or something like that but at this point in my career I just do not have the desire to create a piece for someone that is their vision. I have been asked to create elaborate pieces for weddings and such but am given free liberties and something like that is appealing to me but it is usually someone I know personally. Like I said, I do offer it to boutiques but I also do not do just one piece but several pieces.

There seems to be a lot of jewelry designers mixing the vintage making the modern...how do you feel your pieces stand out?
I love to mix vintage and contemporary findings. I am drawn to vintage plastics and celluloids so I must incorporate them when I can. I also love vintage bangles and chains. I guess the fact that I am using mirrored and solid acrylics to make my own custom designs make my line unique to me. I have created my own settings so that my pieces stand out. There is so much product out there and I was getting frustrated seeing all the same stuff show up everywhere so I found a product that I could use to create pieces that are completely original. I have a line of pieces that use words to also describe my style like "Sugar" and "Honey". I have a really sweet girly style but mix it with an edgy vibe. I love using traditional skull cameos but in pink. I also have been making my own modernized cameos and will continue to pursue anything that keeps making my pieces original and copywritten.

Have you always been a jewelry designer and what was it that you wanted to be when you grew up?
I have always made jewelry or "something" but didn't start to turn it into my own business full-time until a few years ago. I love art and when I was growing up I wanted to be a decorator.

What is Sugar Mafia?
Sugar Mafia™ is my jewelry line for now! I say that because soon you will see some apparel and other product incorporating the Sugar Mafia™ theme. It is two simple words that describe my style to a "T". The combination of words is a contradiction but sugary sweet girlyness meets bold self-confident edginess. I am passionate about my line and have created a real "sisterhood" with women out there that love the same style. I feel that my customers have been loyal and so I am thinking of them each time I roll out a new collection.

What types of materials do you use to create your pieces and how long does it take for you to create one?
I use vintage findings like floral celluloids and chain mixing them with modern acrylics. It depends on the piece but my new cameos take days to complete and cure. Its not an easy process but in the end it is worth it.

What's a vintage trend you would like to see come back?
Geesh, it seems like they have all resurfaced at times. Really, the whole pin-up vibe, I see all the beautiful hair adornments being worn. I love that! I also love brooches and would love to see more of them being worn! I think all the vintage classic trends really never go out of style.

Who are you most turned on by right now?
I love Betsey Johnson but I always have since she came on to the scene. I adore a designer out of London by the name of Anna Lou. Her Retro Collection makes my mouth water!!

What's up with all the pink?
My favorite colour...what can I say??? And mixed with black....oooh lala!

If you could sum up fashion in two words what would they be?
SELF EXPRESSION

Describe an Angelique Boutique customer...
GIRLY. EDGY. SELF-CONFIDENT. BOLD. FLIRTY. FUN.

Who are you in Alice in Wonderland and why?
I read this and looked up an on-line test and took it haha! So the results are: Alice because she is very anxious and curious to discover new things! Yup, I guess that would be me!
